Work Permit ....

The key differences between the work permit schemes and Tier 2 are:

Work Permit

The work permit schemes require detailed documentary and information evidence submitted prior to approval once an application for work permit is made.
If a work permit is not approved the employer knows the grounds of the refusal eg a lack or failure of of the supporting documents.

Tier 2

An Employer may issue immediate Certificates of Sponoship based on the agreed criteria of the Border and Immigration Agency.

Punitive action may be taken against the employer if Border and Immigration Agency consider the Certificate is wrongly issued.

Such punitive actions will be severely impact the employer on any existing or future sponsored employees.

The key difference is the emphasis placed on employers regarding compliance reporting and record keeping.
