When is the best time to apply for a licence?
As soon as possible to fulfill your business needs.
At present the Border and Immigration Agency are looking at a maximum 12 week turnaround
- up to 6 weeks to process an application for a Sponosrship Licence
- up to 6 weeks to process a Tier 2 migrant application
After April 2009 the Border and Immigration Agency percieve a maximum of 8 week turnaround
- up to 4 weeks to process an application for a Sponosrship Licence
- up to 4 weeks to process a Tier 2 migrant application
Are there specific sponsorship duties required
Yes above and beyond the keeping of records, reporting duties, monitoring duties there are specific sponsorship duties per Tier.
For example for tier 2 - the job role must be subject to Resident Labour Market Test; the candidate must be qualified to perform
the role to NVQ3 level or higher; the pay/salary must be appropriate; must be established through advertising non EEA national can
fill the role.
Who is an non EEA national?
EEA stands for European Economic Area - covering following countries:

Can a candidate change employment whilst under Tier2?
Yes the new employer must make a fresh application for the prospective candidate under the requisite tier. Moreover the old
employer must report any such employment termination to the Border Immigration Agency
