Prime Minister Gordon Brown migrants obligations and responsibilities
|
Prime Minister Gordon Brown delivered a hard hitting speech on Immigration the first time since February 2008. During the speech the Prime Minister re-iterrated that migrants must accept responsibilities that go hand in hand with living in the UK, such as learning English, making an contribution to society and obeying the laws. He talked of building on the relative successes of the tier based system, and of tightening of the immigration rules which would result in thousands of more occupations removed from the approved skills shortage list. The Prime Minister said: "As growth returns I want to see rising levels of skills, wages and employment among those resident here, rather than employers having to resort to recruiting people from abroad." |
